The Mathematics Department at Stonehill College seeks candidates for a Professor of Practice position to begin in the Fall of 2026. The successful applicant will join a department of five full-time faculty members with a wide range of disciplinary expertise and a commitment to fostering diversity among faculty and students. The new hire would also serve the data science and actuarial mathematics majors, which are joint programs with other departments at Stonehill College. We seek enthusiastic applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduates.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities will include introductory topics (e.g., calculus and introductory statistics) as well as upper-level undergraduate courses. The teaching load will be 12 credits in each of the Fall and Spring semesters. Academic advising and college service are also required.
Education & Experience
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field by August 2026. Candidates from all fields of mathematics will be considered. Expertise in statistics, data science, or actuarial mathematics to support our programs is preferred but not required. Demonstrated interest and experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students is essential. We expect to see evidence of an awareness of the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment among faculty and students.
