The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in Science Education with a focus on Primary Science Teaching. The position will be based in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously develop this area in research and teaching.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- You represent the field of science education (Didactics of Natural and Social Sciences) in research, with a focus on the scientific perspectives or subject-specific teaching methodology of the related disciplines (biology, chemistry, physics) in a comprehensive way.
- Your research activities relate to primary science education and may include topics such as multi-perspectivity, digitalization/digitality, and education for sustainable development.
- You have experience in teaching courses in science education with a focus on natural sciences. You will contribute to the teaching of primary science education for both primary and special needs education.
- You are able to collaborate across disciplines. Interdisciplinary cooperation within the Institute of Geography and Primary Science Education, within School 2, as well as with School 4 is expected. Active participation in Research Areas 2, 3, or 4 at the University of Wuppertal is desired.
- You cooperate with both school-based and out-of-school partners.
- You have experience in acquiring third-party funding.
- Experience in school settings is desirable.
- You are familiar with the German school system and have proficiency in the language of instruction, German, at least at level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed degree (university or university of applied sciences).
- Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, a topic relevant to the advertised position is desirable.
- Further relevant scientific achievements performed during a first professorship include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad.
- Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or, exceptionally, demonstrated in the appointment procedure.
You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by publications, relevant teaching experience, international orientation (e.g., international collaborations, activities in national and international committees), the successful acquisition of third-party funds, project/practical experience, etc. Please enclose relevant certificates and supporting documents with your application.
