Join Our Mission: Become a Program Coordinator in the Liberty Partnerships Program
Are you passionate about empowering young people to thrive academically, personally, and professionally? Under the leadership of the Director of the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP), we're seeking a dynamic Program Coordinator who will be instrumental in transforming potential into achievement. As part of our passionate team, you'll deliver comprehensive pre-collegiate and dropout prevention services to middle and high school students enrolled in our partner schools. Primary responsibilities include dedicated academic support, college and career readiness preparation, workforce development, enrichment and other intervention strategies working collaboratively with the college, school district, parents and community partners.
In this role, you'll:
- Collaborate closely with schools, families, community partners, and higher education institutions to deliver research-based interventions rooted in the LPP philosophy
- Provide one-on-one mentorship and support tailored to each student's strengths and barriers
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a vibrant 4-week summer enrichment program, integrating hands-on learning, college exposure, life skills development, and creative programming
- Supervise and guide peer leaders, volunteers, and interns, fostering leadership development and a shared commitment to student success
You'll be at the center of a year-round, grant-funded initiative working toward clearer graduation pathways, stronger academic outcomes, and effective transitions into postsecondary education or the workforce. As a full-time professional (unrepresented) team member, your contributions are key to helping students build resilience, advocacy, and a lifelong love of learning goals that lie at the heart of the Liberty Partnerships Program's mission.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a physically, mentally and emotionally safe space for all LPP students.
- Plan and coordinate the provision services to students enrolled in the program in accordance with the grant outcomes and student needs including Academic Assistance, College and Career Readiness, Workforce Development, Enrichment and other intervention strategies
- Plan, coordinate and lead a 4-week summer enrichment program.
- Recruit students from partner schools.
- Responsible for maintaining caseload of students and ensure completion of social-emotional assessments and personal learning plans.
- Communicate with parents about the progress of their student.
- Partner with school district personnel and community providers to meet student needs.
- Conduct home visits.
- Oversee the STARS Mentoring Program.
- Follow and uphold the student code of conduct.
- Track and submit monthly attendance and service records.
- Supervise peer leaders, volunteers and interns.
- Attend and chaperone LPP field trips.
- Attend regular staff/program meetings.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience working with at-promise youth in school or after school or setting.
- Experience planning and delivering activities and workshops for youth.
- Ability to travel to and from partner schools, school sites, SUNY Schenectady and community agencies throughout the Schenectady area.
- Proficiency of basic computer skills including word processing, e-mail, internet, databases, and spreadsheets as well as Google tools (i.e. Google Docs, Google Meet and Google Sheets)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services, Education or similar field.
- Trauma-informed training and or experience preferred.
- Capable of facilitation/leading activities and lessons.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and in team settings.
- Demonstrated strengths in organization, flexibility, and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Effective collaboration, critical thinking, and sound decision-making in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Special Information:
- We are currently hiring for two (2) open positions.
- This role may occasionally require evening or weekend hours; however, flexible scheduling is available to support work-life balance during those times.
- The position is supported through long-standing grant funding. The grant has been consistently renewed since 1988, with the current cycle extending through 2027.
- VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Offers of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of a background check and verification of official college transcripts and/or certifications.
