Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program. The Program Coordinator for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program reports to the Assistant Director/EOF Manager of the SEBS EOF Program. The position requires a highly organized, student-centered, detailed-oriented individual. The position is responsible for: assisting with programming and special initiatives for the SEBS EOF Program, including, but not limited to: creating and overseeing the SEBS EOF Ambassadors program, serving as the primary staff advisor to the SEBS student organizations, coordinate the SEBS EOF Academic tutoring program. The position will focus on SEBS EOF student retention initiative, and handling time-sensitive special projects and assignments. The Program Coordinator I will take direction from the Department Administrator with summer requisitions, summer purchases, budget reconciliation, and expense reports. The position requires a high-level of accountability, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at any given time. Work is consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the SEBS EOF Program.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Coordinates the recruitment, advertising, and outreach efforts to attract qualified peer tutors for the SEBS EOF program.
  • Manages the hiring and interview process for peer tutor candidates.
  • Oversees onboarding and orientation for newly hired tutors.
  • Collaborates with campus partners and academic support offices to facilitate tutor training sessions and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintains the SEBS EOF web site and coordinates social media outreach.
  • Assists with all aspects of the year-long process of Summer Institute residence life planning.
  • Maintains responsibility for over 80 students and 7 Resident Mentor staff.
  • Assists the Summer Program Coordinator with hiring, selection and training for the SEBS EOF program.
  • Assists the SEBS EOF Senior Program Administrator to ensure programming and integrative student projects are focused on student retention and graduation, provide alumni relations support.
  • Develops processes to assist with evaluation of Program effectiveness, assists with database management, and identifies additional program resources.
  • Follows the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education/EOF regulations and assists with research projects associated with special student populations.
  • Works on other SEBS EOF projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, and promotion/outreach.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy in Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position requires evening and weekend work especially during the Summer Institute Program May-August.

Special Conditions:

Position will live on-campus during the Summer Sold GEMS and Summer START-UP programs, with an adjustment of work hours.
