Job Description:
Function of Position:
Reporting directly to the Dean of the STEM and Health Schools, the STEP Program Director is responsible for the leadership, management, and supervision of all aspects of the STEP program. The director collaborates with middle and high schools, MCC departments, and external partners for secondary students to enrich their academic experiences, particularly in STEM. Working with the NYS Education Liaison and the Association of Professional Administrators in CSTEP and STEP, the director is an active participant in the C/STEP Finger Lakes region and serves in statewide committees to develop, plan, and collaborate at the statewide level for programming and professional development.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Grant writing for continual funding
- Report-writing and submissions to respective agencies
- Oversight and management of the fiscal budget
- Facilitation of Memorandums of Understanding or Agreements with external partners
- Creation of additional opportunities for students with external partners
- Oversight and leadership of staff hiring, onboarding, and training
- Projections and forecasts for budgetary and programmatic needs
- Professional development support and guidance for staff
- Oversight of the data collection
- Collaboration with the College's technology offices to implement or maintain the technological needs for programmatic compliance
- Annual creation of, and the collaboration with, the Advisory Board and Parent Groups
- Serve as representative to college departments, statewide programs and committees, APACS (professional organization), families, and stakeholders
- Collaboration with grants accounting and grants offices for fiscal tasks and budget compliance
- Oversee the processes for programmatic compliance
- Complete staff performance appraisals
- Close out each program every year
- Oversight of the Summer Bridge Programs
- Create, maintain, and adjust, if necessary, the procedures and processes within the department
- Program compliance
- Able to participate in weekend and evening events
- Other responsibilities, as assigned

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field such as leadership, business management, health, science, education, or technology
- Two years of middle/high school experience in program administration in the areas of academic support services, counseling, opportunity programs, or a related field
- Demonstration of successful grant writing or curriculum development experience
- Experience with budget, data, and personnel management
- Three years of experience in overseeing and creating student access and success initiatives, including college preparation services
- Experience working with parent groups
- Five years of experience serving first-generation, underrepresented, or low-income students
- A strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of regulations of New York State, Department of Education, or other Credentialing agencies
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies
- Experience with Schoology, Schooltool, Naviance, Google Classroom, or other student data systems used in the K-12 education system
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a budget of $60,000 annually based on the mentioned factors.
MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit-eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting, and compressed work schedules. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs. Limitations to flexible work arrangements are outlined in the official policy.
Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short-term, temporary basis.
