The Program Director in collaboration with the Director provides the vision and leadership required to realize the mission of the Continuing Education and Customized Training Program and the college at large. Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, budget management, developing/maintaining external industry partnerships and providing operational supervision to part time faculty in the department. Instructional responsibilities require a strong environmental, health and safety skill set and the ability to teach students effectively in an instructional environment. The Program Director is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching load with some administrative release time to carry out duties. Additional responsibilities include maintaining GTCC’s accreditation as an ATS (Accredited Training Sponsor) with the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research).

Daily interactions with industry trades, director, instructors, clients, registrar, accounting, etc.
Education Required
- Associate’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
- OSHA 30 Authorized Trainer (Construction)
- OSHA Authorized Trainer for General Industry and Construction (OSHA 500) or attain within 6 months.
- NCCER Instructor Certification or attain within 6 months.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or attain within 6 months.
Education Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- OSHA Specialized certifications (e.g., Fall Protection, etc.).
Experience Required
- Three years delivering classroom-based construction/workplace safety training.
- Experience developing training content.
- Experience in construction or manufacturing environment.
Experience Preferred
- >3 years delivering training.
- Project management experience.
- NC Edge Customized Training Program experience.
KSA Required
Multi-task, support college mission, adapt, learner-centered, communicate effectively.
Department/Job Specific Requirements
Frequent travel, physical abilities, various trainings required (Safety/Shooter, PIP, Ethics, eLearning, etc.).
Physical Demands
Mostly standing/walking, rare hazards, lifting 20-50 lbs.
Criminal history checks required.
