Examples of Duties/Essential Functions
- Oversees the administration, organization and supervision of the paramedic studies program.
- Responsible for the continuous quality review and improvement of the paramedic studies program.
- Direct long-range planning and ongoing development of the program.
- Oversee the effectiveness of the program and implement systems to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program.
- Cooperatively and constructively work with the medical director, instructors and personnel in clinical agencies, the California EMSA and the NREMT.
- Maintain adequate controls to assure the quality of the delegated responsibilities.
- Assume responsibility for planning, directing, implementing, evaluating and changing, when necessary, the Paramedic courses in collaboration with Department Chair.
- Collaborate with Department Chair and Medical Director in preparing and administering a Program budget.
- Prepare reports and self- studies as required by the college, the California EMS Authority, NREMT, and CoAEMSP/ CAAHEP
- Coordinate and facilitate advanced level NREMT testing.
- Acts in a leadership capacity to instructors and coordinators.
- Responsible for meeting deadlines and submitting data for continued accreditation.
- Functions as a participating member of the College, e.g. committee membership, Advisory Committee responsibilities etc.
- Is committed to professional and faculty development.
- Coordinates the activities of students challenging required courses or requesting evaluated credit.
- Develops and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the community and affiliated clinical agencies.
- Maintains a safe and effective learning environment and protect the privacy of students and the confidentially of training records as required.
Desirable Qualifications
This position adheres to Title 22 regulations. Candidates must hold one of the following qualifications: CA licensed physician or Registered Nurse with a bachelors degree or Paramedic with a bachelors degree or an individual with a bachelors degree in a health field.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching or coordinating EMS courses.
- Knowledge concerning national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and the requirements for state and national certification and/or licensure in California and NREMT .
- Knowledge of all levels of EMS instruction with emphasis on Paramedic training.
- Knowledge of educational principles and instructional design for adult learners.
- Knowledge of methods of instruction.
