Program Site Coordinator & Full-Time Faculty -Practical Nursing (Bridgeport)

Position Description Summary/Purpose:

Under the direction of the Program Director of Practical Nursing, the Program Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the Goodwin University Practical Nursing (PN) Program on the University of Bridgeport campus, as well as all duties defined for full-time faculty. Responsibilities also include meeting and maintaining program accreditation requirements, systematic review of program effectiveness among didactic, laboratory, and clinical components, student recruitment, committee assignments and serving as a liaison with health care facilities. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach across the curriculum with a preference for any area of specialization in a related field.

*This is a Goodwin University position that is located in Bridgeport, CT*

In addition to teaching, the faculty member is expected to:

  • Pursue scholarly activities
  • Participate in school, University, and Community Service
  • Assist in advising students, curriculum development, and program evaluation associated with a full-time faculty position
  • Participate in commencement and pinning activities as well as special university meetings
  • Participation in other university and community service activities that are consistent with the mission

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate site logistics.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the institution and site personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate site orientations and communicate policies to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Monitor and report on student attendance, performance, and issues.
  • Support faculty with materials and guidance.
  • Maintain records related to site operations and student progress.
  • Assist with site evaluations and feedback processes.
  • Provide mentoring to the new faculty

Other Functions:

  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Participates in departmental and University committees and contributes to student retention.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
  • Coordinate with Staff and Faculty based at the East Hartford Campus
  • Attend key meetings (orientation, retreats, all-staff nursing meetings, etc) at East Hartford campus via Zoom or in-person as necessary to support program operations; to be determined by Program Director or University officials.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with clinical partners, colleagues and students.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing; or Bachelor’s Degree with intent to complete MSN within 4 years
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in an academic or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in the field of study
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Work collegially in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
