Program/Project Coordinator to the MIT Committee on Animal Care

PROGRAM/PROJECT COORDINATOR TO THE MIT COMMITTEE ON ANIMAL CARE

Division of Comparative Medicine, will process all aspects of the protocol review for new protocols, renewals, procedural addenda and new personnel addenda to extant protocols. This includes evaluating protocol submissions; ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and institutional requirements; pre-reviewing submissions prior to triaging for veterinary review; determining level of review required, i.e., full committee or designated member; keeping investigators informed of the status of their submissions; relaying post-review comments to investigators; ensuring investigator’s responses to committee comments are complete prior to sending for re-review; monitoring protocol expiration dates and reviewing response dates to ensure no interruption in approval; assisting with the preparation of meeting agendas; attending monthly meetings of the CAC and any ad hoc meetings; and recording minutes of these meetings.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Two years of administrative and/or project/program management experience; bachelor’s degree preferably in animal science, biology or related field; basic knowledge of issues pertaining to the use and care of animals in research, testing, and instruction; excellent organizational, record-keeping, and written communication skills; proficient computer skills, particularly with proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Google Drive, DropBox, and Adobe Acrobat; commitment to promoting research animal welfare and scientific integrity; and ability to work with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment. PREFERRED: Two or more years of direct IACUC regulatory experience and/or experience working with laboratory animals in a research setting; and CPIA and/or ALAT/LAT/LATG certification.
