Why your role matters

The Project Manager is a key leader within the Academic Calendar Program, responsible for planning, developing, and delivering program projects. The role includes preparing project documentation, assembling and guiding project contributors, and overseeing all aspects of project execution, including stakeholder engagement and quality assurance.

The position reports to the Academic Calendar Program Manager and has no direct reports.

About the Role

You will be required to undertake and have experience in the following areas of expertise:

  • Lead the delivery of academic calendar project streams and initiatives to achieve university-wide operational and strategic goals.
  • Lead day-to-day project management, including planning, delivery, evaluation, and documentation.
  • Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, financials, and change requests, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
  • Collect, analyse and develop plans to act upon complex data sets.
  • Ensure strict adherence to UNSW governance pathways for consistent and effective project execution.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, partnering with stakeholders to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Coordinate the integration of calendar transformation activities to align with academic, operational, and student experience requirements across all faculties.
  • Facilitate university-wide collaboration to support implementation readiness, including change management, training, and transition planning.

About the Role

  • Tertiary qualifications with relevant experience and strong knowledge of the full project lifecycle, including planning, objectives, governance, and documentation.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail and experience collaborating across all organisational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all organizational levels to drive successful initiatives.
  • Strong organisational, resource allocation, and time-management abilities, with proven capacity to manage shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Advanced technical skills across various computer applications and systems, specifically within the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills, with the judgment to manage competing deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
