About the role:

This role is for someone who enjoys turning complexity into delivery — bringing structure, pace and sound judgement to work that matters, particularly where priorities compete and progress depends on coordination across teams and senior stakeholders.

As a Project Manager, Deakin Transformation, you will lead complex organisational transformation and optimisation initiatives across the University. You will shape a clear path forward, maintain delivery momentum, and ensure risks are actively managed and outcomes are realised.

The role operates with a high degree of independence and visibility. It will suit someone who is energised by complex, high-impact work, comfortable progressing delivery where objectives may evolve, and confident influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders while maintaining trust and constructive relationships.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Deakin Transformation, you will work across functions to prioritise work, negotiate scope and timelines, and support effective decision-making in a dynamic environment.

This role is best suited to individuals who take ownership of complex delivery challenges and bring sound judgement to organisational decision-making.

As a Project Manager, Deakin Transformation you will:

Lead the delivery of organisational transformation initiatives, from shaping the problem through to implementation and transition.

Bring clarity to complex objectives and align stakeholders around a shared delivery pathway.

Develop and maintain project plans, governance and reporting appropriate to the scale and risk of the initiative.

Monitor progress, risks and dependencies, identifying early warning signals and adjusting delivery approaches where required.

Apply project management disciplines pragmatically, selecting and adapting tools and techniques to suit context.

Engage confidently with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to negotiate priorities and resolve issues.

Coordinate cross-functional teams, fostering shared ownership and accountability for outcomes.

To be successful, you’ll have:

Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or

Extensive experience and management expertise; or

An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

Extensive experience delivering complex projects or transformation initiatives in large, multifaceted organisations.

Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability, including experience working with senior leaders.

Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, negotiate trade-offs and make timely decisions in complex environments.

Experience identifying and escalating risks appropriately.

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to apply project management approaches pragmatically — bringing appropriate structure without over-engineering process.

Here's how to apply:

Please submit your updated resume and a short cover letter outlining your skills and experience.
