Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Project Manager (Relocations and Logistics) to join Facilities Management, Administrative Division.

The University undertakes a significant capital works program of new buildings and reinvestment in the order of $50-$100 million per annum aligned with University objectives to create excellent learning environments. The Project Manager (Logistics and Relocations) will act as a project management practitioner planning and delivering both simple and complex relocations services, signage upgrades, furniture replacement and other logistic type services to support the university’s building programs and within the Capital Works and Major Projects Sections. In this role, the Project Manager will also be responsible for managing the design and delivery of a program of medium and minor works such as fitouts, furniture upgrades and other required projects.

The Facilities Management Department within the Administrative Division is responsible for managing the process of design, construction, maintenance and operation of the physical facilities, and the provision of a range of support services across the University's two main campuses at Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove and a range of smaller offsite facilities..

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications in a building industry discipline or related area, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience leading capital works projects. 
  2. Proven ability to plan and deliver complex building and/or logistics projects, and deal effectively with difficult project management issues to consistently achieve performance targets of scope, time and cost.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage procurement and correctly and effectively interpret and apply legislation and policy in a public institutional probity environment.
  4. Demonstrated experience in communicating and negotiating effectively, both orally and in written form, with a wide range of clients including senior managers, executive groups, building contractors and design consultants.
  5. Proven ability to successfully manage multi-disciplinary teams involved in the procurement of complex building/relocation projects or other programs of work.
  6. Demonstrated ability to implement appropriate health and safety practices and equity principles at an operational level.
