Project Outreach Coordinator (Fixed Term)

The Department of Architecture is seeking a versatile and motivated Project Outreach Coordinator to work to support the implementation of the Public Map Platform Phase 2 - an exciting and intense two-year participatory research project working with local communities to develop digital community made maps of the region that will help foster sustainable behaviours. Our focus is on empowering children and young people to have a voice in planning.

Work will be off-site, in the Cambridge Room or in community/educational spaces in Cambridgeshire. There are also opportunities to travel to the sister site in Anglesey.

Responsible for the day to day running of mapping fieldwork across Cambridge and the region. They will build relationships with schools and community groups, manage a small team of community mappers and organise team 'Mappenings' in schools and in the Cambridge Room and support the research team in gathering data on impact. They will work in close connection with our researchers, mapping teams in Wales and the Department of Architecture at the University of Cambridge. For more detail see www.publicmap.org. The post-holder will be working within a friendly team on a project that spans geographies within the United Kingdom that is producing work that will be used in future planning.

This is a dynamic and fast-paced project and there is unlikely to be a typical day in role, although there are some examples of tasks in the further particulars. It would suit someone who enjoys creating order in a busy and creative environment, and is able to adapt quickly to changing situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a pro-active approach will ensure that the diverse workload is enjoyable and fulfilling. Further information about the Department of Architecture is available here: www.arct.cam.ac.uk.

The post-holder will be working with children and young people and so an enhanced DBS check will be completed as part of the induction process and must be obtained.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.

Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be directed to Zara Kuckelhaus, Business and Operations Manager at faculty.manager@aha.cam.ac.uk. For queries about the application process, please contact the School's HR team at sahhr@admin.cam.ac.uk.
