Pfeiffer University, a private liberal arts university located in North Carolina, is seeking an experienced and innovative leader and skilled academic administrator as Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs. As a private university with a 140-year heritage of servant leadership rooted in a strong liberal arts curriculum and the faith of the United Methodist Church, Pfeiffer prepares students to be thoughtful, well-rounded leaders in their fields through intentional mentorship, real-world experiences, and exemplary academic programs. As of the Fall of 2025, the University serves approximately 1000 students, including about 700 undergraduates and 300 graduate students, through a regional network of three campuses: the Misenheimer campus: traditional undergraduate campus (approximately 40 miles northeast of Charlotte); the Albemarle campus: Center for Health Sciences; and Pfeiffer Online: featuring degree completion and graduate programs.

Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate and master's degrees, Pfeiffer offers more than 25 majors and minors and has a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Degrees offered by the university include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Master of Health Administration, Master of Arts, and Master of Business Administration. The four most popular bachelor's degree concentrations are General Business Administration & Management, Registered Nursing, Health Care Administration & Management, and Health & Exercise Science. Pfeiffer's master's programs and certificates are offered primarily online or on the Albemarle campus. As members of the NCAA Division III USA South Athletic Conference, the University sponsors 19 teams for women's and men's sports.

As a member of the President's Cabinet, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs oversees the work of the deans of both the undergraduate and graduate colleges and provides oversight and guidance for the four academic divisions as Pfeiffer executes its mission on the three campuses. This innovative and action-oriented individual will embody servant leadership, as well as understand and express an appreciation for the University's deep connection to The United Methodist Church. Above all, the provost, as a proactive builder and researcher, will be responsible for developing a successful third and/or fourth graduate healthcare program as part of the Pfeiffer University Center for Health Sciences. The provost will also foster an environment that encourages and supports teaching and learning, student success, strong faculty morale, and the stewardship of resources with creativity, servant leadership, and fiscal oversight. As an active contributor to Pfeiffer's strategic planning efforts, the provost will assist the President, deans, faculty, and Vice President for Enrollment Management in executing the university's plan to build and retain robust student populations.

The ideal candidate will have a record of significant academic administrative experience in higher education, including a minimum of 10 years of successful experience with positions of increasing responsibility in all aspects of academic administration, budgeting, and resource allocations. Individuals should also have a strong record of academic accomplishments, including effective teaching, scholarly activity, service, and program development, and an understanding of both graduate and undergraduate programs. With a commitment to the principles embodied in the mission of Pfeiffer, this decisive leader should have a history of working collaboratively in a team environment with diverse constituencies, be a relatable community builder, and have the ability to work across campuses in a unifying fashion. An earned doctoral or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university is required. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
