PS Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary

The University of Utah Health, Division of Urology, Men's Health Center is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for a one-year Andrology and Men's Health Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship. This fellowship is designed to prepare the APP Fellow for independent clinical practice in men's health through progressive, competency-based training in comprehensive evaluation, procedural care, and multidisciplinary management of male urologic and sexual health conditions.

The fellowship year is structured into three progressive phases. The initial phase emphasizes observation and foundational learning, during which the Fellow will shadow Advanced Practice Providers, fellowship-trained men's health physicians, reconstructive urologists and non-operative urologists, and participate in division-wide educational activities including weekly conferences, journal club, and resident teaching. The second phase focuses on supervised clinical practice, with increasing responsibility for patient care and the development of procedural and surgical assisting skills. The final phase emphasizes independent clinical practice with remote faculty supervision.

The fellowship prepares graduates to integrate into established men's health practices, participate in the development and expansion of new men's health services and be leaders in their field.

Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive evaluation and management of men's health conditions in outpatient and telehealth settings

• Diagnose and manage conditions including:
  • Male infertility
  • Erectile and sexual dysfunction
  • Peyronie's disease
  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
  • Ejaculatory and orgasmic disorders
  • Testosterone deficiency and hypogonadism
  • Stress urinary incontinence
  • Chronic male genital and testicular pain

Participate in perioperative care, including patient counseling, preoperative assessment, and postoperative follow-up

Procedural and Surgical Responsibilities

• Serve as surgical first assist for urologic prosthetic procedures, including penile prostheses, artificial urinary sphincters, and male slings
• Participate in operative cases one-two days per week
• Engage in procedural training and simulation activities

Education and Research

• Attend and actively participate in departmental conferences, didactic sessions, and specialty meetings
• Develop and complete a research or quality improvement project during the fellowship year
• Present scholarly work at a regional or national urology conference, as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications

Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
