Job Summary
The Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHIFL) is a 94-bed adult inpatient psychiatric facility operated by the Colorado Department of Human Services located in Denver, CO that provides excellent psychiatric care to a vulnerable patient population. As one of the State's two Mental Health Hospitals, CMHHIFL serves a diverse patient population and embraces a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approach to care. You will join us during an exciting time of growth as we increase bed capacity and diversify the patient population served to include both civil and forensic patients.
This position is not located on Anschutz Medical Campus.
Psychiatric providers employed by the University of Colorado to provide care to the patients at CMHIFL. The Psychiatrist will be responsible for offering professional psychiatric services to patients in compliance with CMHIFL and mental health guidelines, to include psychiatric assessment of patient's mental health needs, prescription and management of psychiatric medicine, clinical management of patients with mental illness, consultation with other staff regarding the mental health needs of patients, provision of training to ancillary staff regarding psychiatric needs and issues, and assisting in the care of patients presenting with psychiatric crises or emergencies.
This position is considered full-time (1.0 FTE).

- Work with integrated care teams that include mental and physical health professionals, such as physicians, psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to provide seamless continuum of care.
- Collaborate with other members of the team and evaluate their diagnosis and treatment protocols upon request to ensure the best in patient care.
- Provide consultation to integrated care team members to help diagnosis, assess and treat complex behavioral health conditions in an inpatient facility.
- Provide input in the creation of individual patient treatment plans that incorporate multiple treatment methodologies and adjust as needed for enhanced patient response.
- Diagnose mental health conditions based on patient health history, discussions with the patient and information provided from relatives and other health professionals.
- Assess patients and prescribe pharmaceutical interventions, as appropriate, on an ongoing basis for treatment of behavioral, emotional, or mental disorders.
- Recommend diagnostic and laboratory tests on patients to learn additional information about their physical and/or mental health, as well as their improvement over time.
- Discuss treatment protocols and diagnoses with patient caregivers and advise as appropriate.
