Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.
Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.
Job Summary
The District Support Specialist will serve in a liaison role between the College of Education and the school districts who are Georgia's BEST partners. The role will assist with Georgia's BEST functions inside their assigned school district (Douglas Co) and with students who are educators employed by the district when interacting with the University.
Frequent travel to school districts (Douglas Co) and to our Carrollton and Newnan sites is required.
Responsibilities
(1) Assistance with recruiting/admission/retention/graduation for Georgia's BEST programs; (2) Interaction with school district-designated liaisons, to assist with program function; (3) Program management; (4) Forecasting; (5) Problem-solving; (6) Creating or contributing to social media postings, recruiting materials; (7) Working with students and alumni (8) Representing Georgia's BEST at conferences and other recruiting events across Georgia; (9) Assisting with registration, tracking, and billing; (10) Budgeting and financial operations; (11) Working with educator certification issues; (12) Data analysis; (13) Depending upon qualifications, possibly teach a course or serve as an instructional support mentor; (14) Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
Required Experience
Sufficient knowledge of Georgia P-12 education to understand the structures in which he/she operates. The successful applicant should also have successful experience in program management. The candidate must have a positive, solutions-oriented disposition and be able to work successfully with a variety of individuals across school districts and the university.

Preferred Experience
Successful administrative experience in P-12, ideally in a public school district he/she will support (Cobb, Coweta, Gwinnett, Douglas). Familiarity with teach certification pathways, licensure processes, and graduate education structures in Georgia. The preferred candidate will hold Georgia professional educator certification.
Proposed Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience.
