The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Part-Time Instructor, Human Anatomy & Physiology to teach part-time in the Biology department in Spring 2026 and beyond. The ideal candidate must have a passion for teaching and learning and a strong commitment to the missions and values of the community college. They must have community college experience teaching Human Anatomy and/or combined Human Anatomy and Physiology. We are looking for excellent instructors who are student-centered in their approach and dedicated to student success, have interest in curriculum and instructional improvement through ongoing critical thinking about student learning outcomes in courses and programs.

Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements listed in order to be considered for the pool of qualified candidates. Applicants that meet the minimum requirements are not automatically accepted to teach at Chabot.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Deliver organized lectures to teach the topics as listed in the course outline of record, which can be located at http://curricunet.com/chabot/; search under course;
2. Evaluate students using formative assessments such as homework assignments, quizzes and exams;
3. Teach a hybrid online lab curriculum (with limited in person labs) that includes cadaver dissections, to satisfy the course outline of record in collaboration with the lab technician and lead faculty for Anatomy;
4. Provide effective and timely feedback to students;
5. Create a welcoming and student-centered learning and teaching environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in any biological science OR Bachelors in any biological science AND Masters in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR the equivalent.

Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Experience teaching at the community college level or being the instructor of record in lower division courses;
2. Experience teaching online;
3. Experience working or teaching in a laboratory;
4. Experience performing human cadaver dissection while maintaining a safe working environment and following all required safety procedures.
