(Classes typically range from 3CAH to 5CAH each, and PT Faculty could potentially teach up to 10CAH per semester.)

Job Summary
The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking instructors for Las Positas's pool of Part-Time Instructors, Mathematics, to teach face to face lecture/labs for Summer 2025 and beyond. We are looking for excellent instructors who are student-centered in their approach and dedicated to student success, have interest in curriculum and instructional improvement through ongoing critical thinking about student learning outcomes in courses and programs. An ideal candidate will be skilled in promoting student engagement, incorporate culturally responsive pedagogy within the curriculum to promote student success, have excellent communication skills with students, staff and faculty peers, who are equity-minded in their work.
Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements listed in order to be considered for the pool of qualified candidates. Applicants that meet the minimum requirements are not automatically accepted to teach at Las Positas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability and willingness to teach a variety of mathematic courses pursuant to the official course outline of record. Course include, but are not limited to: College Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Statistic and Probability, Math for Liberal Arts, Finite Mathematics, Business Calculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Ordinary Differential Equations, and foundational mathematics found in support classes for the above.
- Provide effective and timely feedback to students and create a welcoming and student-centered learning and teaching environment.
- Delivering coherent lectures, creating assignments & course materials that serve instructional goals, creating exams and/or other evaluative assignments that test for mastery of course content;
- Identifying basic and essential concepts and developing pertinent materials and strategies that will assist students in understanding the core subject matter consistent with the official course outline;
- Meet deadlines and submittal of Census Reports and grades; Participate in program and subject area improvement tasks such as creating and assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), program review, and curriculum development.
- Demonstrate sensitivity in working with students, including those of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and abilities, including those with physical and learning disabilities, and those needing concurrent support of prerequisite mathematics skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelors in either of the above AND Masters in statistics, physics or mathematics education OR the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience in Mathematics and Statistics at the college level;
- Teaching with imagination, vigor, and clarity, attempting to provide a framework of learning which consciously places topics in a well-knit relationship one to the other;
- Interest in improving student learning and retention in Mathematics and Statistics courses through collaboration with their department colleagues.
