St. Catherine University invites applications for a Public Safety Supervisor within the Public Safety Department. The Public Safety Department is committed to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Our team takes a proactive, prevention-focused approach to campus safety, with officers on duty 24/7 to provide assistance and ensure the security of our campus community.
The Public Safety Supervisor shall insure that all policies and procedures are followed, proper notifications are made, and proper documentation is prepared. The Public Safety Supervisor may also be responsible for scheduling staff, ensuring safety details are assigned and completed as assigned, maintaining uniforms, equipment, found and confiscated property, security office organization, reference material, and office files and fulfilling other duties as assigned.
The Public Safety Supervisor also has "On-Call" duty, which is on a rotating schedule with their fellow supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Assigns duties and responsibilities to Public Safety Officers including scheduling shifts and training on day to day responsibilities
- Performs routine patrol functions and assists on-duty officers
- Evaluates performance for assigned Public Safety Officers
- Provides staff commendations
- Performs coaching, counseling and corrective measures as needed
- Ensures campus electronic access is functioning properly and diagnoses any problems
- Take inventory and issue equipment to officers
- Run, review, scrub and submit accurate reports
- Complete incident reports and review incident reports on a daily basis
- Ensure that reports are investigated in a timely manner and that all leads are followed
- Ensure that cameras are working and footage is saved and added to reports
- Develop and/or implement crime prevention programs and education. (i.e. Self-defense, alcohol awareness, fire safety, etc.)
- Plan, coordinate, & staff of special events or requests. (i.e. Orientation, Commencement, Move-In Day)
Salary: $47,132 - $49,000

The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A current and valid driver's license with an eligible driving record
- Computer skills in the Google and Microsoft Office suite
AND EITHER:
- High School diploma
- Four years of Public Safety Officer experience or Resident Assistant (RA) experience can substitute for up to one year of PSO experience
OR:
- Associate's degree
- Two years of Public Safety Officer experience or Resident Assistant (RA) experience can substitute for up to six months of PSO experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- A four year Bachelor's degree
- Two years of demonstrated leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Certified in first aid, CPR, AED
- Experience responding to varied dynamic, stressful incidents and making critical decisions in a timely manner with limited supervision
- Demonstrable community engagement experience
