At the University of Westminster, we combine inspiring teaching, London and global connections, interdisciplinary collaborations, close professional links and policy-focused research to transform individuals and wider society. We are a vibrant, sustainable and broad-based institution proud of our heritage of almost 200 years and always looking forward. As a result of positive action, we are in a strong financial position to deliver our ambitious strategy, ‘Being Westminster’.

This post sits within the School of Finance and Accounting (SFA), which is one of four schools in the Westminster Business School, focused on finance, banking, international finance, investment, risk, and accounting and is noted for its Fintech programmes and Bloomberg financial markets suites, along with its accredited accounting and finance programmes. You will become part of a community of around 60 permanent academic staff and additional part-time visiting lecturers. You will join a team of highly qualified lecturers and researchers. The successful candidate for this post is expected to be capable of working harmoniously in a close, team-based environment, fully supporting management, and demonstrating the ability to take on academic leadership responsibilities.

You will be based at the University’s Marylebone campus, opposite Baker Street Station, centrally located and immersed in London’s business community.

The School of Finance and Accounting is seeking to recruit a colleague who will take a leading role in improving the quality of the research record, research profile, and external reputation of both the College and the University. You will have experience in funding bidding and management, and you will regularly produce high-quality peer-reviewed outputs of international standing. The successful applicant will be expected to take on a research leadership position within the School and support the Associate Head of College for Research in meeting the School’s targets for REF outputs as well as external funding. You will be expected to mentor junior colleagues in their research efforts.

As a Reader, you will have a PhD in a related discipline. You will have proven experience in research, teaching, and learning in an academic environment. Your breadth and depth of specialist knowledge will be contemporary to the disciplines of the school. You will be expected to have experience in research leadership. Fully committed to creating a stimulating research and working environment which is supportive and fair, based on mutual respect and trust, and in which harassment and discrimination are neither tolerated nor acceptable.
