Pay Range

The compensation for this appointment will range from $24.76 to $25.00 hourly and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.

Position Summary Information

Summary

This position serves as the first point of contact for visitors, guests, and callers within the College of Health Science ( CHS ). This position is responsible for managing front desk operations, including greeting and directing visitors, answering and routing phone calls, and providing accurate information about campus locations, services, and events. In addition, the incumbent will support the coordination and execution of CHS visits, meetings, and special events by assisting with scheduling, logistics, and administrative tasks. The Reception and Events Assistant helps ensure a positive experience for all guests while relieving departmental staff of clerical and routine administrative duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Serve as receptionist for the College of Health Science, greeting visitors to the Health Science Campus and providing information and materials.
  2. Assist with clerical and administrative duties for the CHS and its departments.
  3. Assist in the ordering and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  4. Assist in the coordination of meetings, agendas, and assignment of facility space.
  5. Process and distribute incoming mail for the CHS .
  6. Prepare outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mails and social media messages.
  7. Organize and maintain file systems.
  8. Answer and screen telephone calls to the CHS and its departments.
  9. Plan and implement activities and events within the CHS and its departments including, but not limited to, welcome events, admissions events, campus tours, holiday and special events, and hooding ceremonies.
  10. Support CHS social media presence and activities including managing accounts and preparing content.
  11. May prepare invoices and credit card transactions for Accounts Payable.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned that are specific to the program or other CBU and/or CHS programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete work assignments.

  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures.
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to both work independently and also follow directions as part of a team.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; and requires sufficient hand, harm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers; and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.

Education and/or Experience

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and/or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
