The VPD-Heart & Lung Research Institute is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Reception Apprentice to join our Building Services Team at the state-of-the-art Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart & Lung Research Institute (VPD-HLRI).

Opened in April 2022, the VPD-HLRI is at the forefront of global research, bringing together the NHS, academia, industry, and charities to tackle cardiovascular and respiratory diseases - some of the world's biggest health challenges. Our institute is home to around 450 staff, cutting-edge laboratories, a Clinical Research Facility (CRF), modern office spaces, and a variety of seminar and conference rooms.

The Role

As a Reception Apprentice, you will be a key part of our front-of-house team, providing a friendly and professional welcome to visitors, staff, and collaborators. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering excellent customer service at our busy reception desk
  • Greeting and assisting visitors, staff, and researchers
  • Managing bookings for meeting and conference rooms
  • Handling phone and email enquiries efficiently
  • Supporting the Building Services Team with general administrative tasks

What we're looking for

Skills: Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook), strong organisation, communication, and time management skills

Attributes: Excellent attention to detail, willingness to learn and take responsibility for your own development, ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
