Scope of Job:
Responsible for leading and coordinating engagement efforts, communications, and outreach initiatives to increase awareness and participation in University Recreation programs and services.
Description of Duties:
  • Leads and coordinates engagement efforts, communications and outreach initiatives to increase awareness and participation in University Recreation programs and services.
  • Coordinates, implements and supervises the daily operations of University Recreation student engagement and communication team.
  • Develops, implements and supervises comprehensive engagement plans for all University Recreation programs, services, and events.
  • Plans, develops and coordinates the creation of content for social media platforms, website, email newsletters, and digital signage to ensure consistent branding and messaging, in accordance with University Marketing branding standards.
  • Monitors analytics and engagement metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Coordinates presence at campus events, orientations, and fairs to increase visibility and participation among diverse student populations.
  • Analyzes and prepares regular reports on digital analytics, engagement outcomes, outreach impact for decision making.
  • Plans and executes outreach initiatives that leverage special events to increase student engagement.
  • Ensures all outreach efforts align with university and departmental branding standards.
  • Maintains a content calendar and oversees all timelines for advertisements and events.
  • May assist with the development of departmental policies and procedures.
  • May assist with annual budget preparation as needed and provides financial supervision necessary to achieve budget target, carrying out best practices in financial stewardship.
  • Conducts formal training or gives instruction regarding program policies and procedures.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars related to the program's mission and goals.
  • Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations associated with and/or receiving benefit from the program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
General supervision from assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Licenses/Certifications:
N/A
Required Experience:
Two (2) years of experience performing related duties.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in promotions, marketing, communication or engagement roles, preferably within higher education, campus recreation or student affairs. Experience in data analysis and reporting to inform engagement strategies.
Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment. Proficiency in social media platforms, basic knowledge of graphic design software.
Preferred: Familiarity with content management systems for website updates and strong understanding of digital analytics tools.
Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. Some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Other:
Exceptional planning and organizational skills. Knowledge of digital marketing strategies, including social media, email campaigns, and web content. Strong event planning and coordination techniques. Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating content and presentations. Strong analytical skills to interpret data and adjust engagement strategies.
