Position Information:
Under the supervision of the RED Administrative Officer, the Research Center Administrative Officer serves as an integral part of the daily administrative operations for Alianza UCMX. In this role the Research Center Administrative Officer functions as the main transactor for procurement, travel, and other financial or administrative needs. This position serves as an occasional back-up/relief person for administrative tasks and functions for other administrative units and departments under the Research and Development organization structure during absences, leaves, or as required.
The full salary range for the is $68,361.12- $109,244.16 annually. However, the budgeted salary range for this position is $76,379.04 We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

- Experience using automated payroll systems.

- Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides administrative support to RED units, coordinates daily office operations, assumes full responsibility for processing transactions related to purchasing, travel, supplies, and the equipment needs of the department as well as implementation of administrative projects assigned by senior staff. Provides back up support to other RED units. 50%
- Gathers and analyzes financial and other resource data; prepares reports or analyses of operational activities, evaluates current and proposed services, etc. Documents processes and procedures for financial activities. 25%
- Functions as a resource on issues such as researching complex financial discrepancies, escalated customer service problems and vendor concerns. 10%
- Ensures that the appropriate internal controls are addressed, maintained and strengthened to protect university resources. 5%
- Assesses and recommends changes to maintain compliance with federal and state requirements and internal policies. 5%
- Participates in the development and revision of standard operating procedures and guidelines. 5%
