POSITION SUMMARY:
Military Outreach Representatives are responsible for researching and selecting appropriate education fairs, conferences, and Military unit visits to effectively market South University. The Military Outreach Representative will work directly with prospective students in the U.S. Military, Veterans, and other entities, assisting them in achieving their educational goals.
This position is fully remote.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
- Research, select, plan travel, and attend appropriate military education fairs/conferences to secure potential students for all components of South University (Campus and Online)
- Build and maintain relationships with educational staff/students at assigned military installations and Learning Partners in your region
- Travel extensively (120 days per year), including some weekends and may include holidays.
- Obtain referrals from students and prospects to augment paid advertising and enhance performance results; prudent use of South University funds while engaged in South University-sanctioned events and activities.
- Seek out prospective students in new markets and provide leads generated from conferences to appropriate teams for follow-up.
- Plan a calendar and share all dates with the Director of Military Outreach; Work with the Director to secure coverage for larger events.
- Execute all travel arrangements; maintain and reconcile credit card expense receipts and reports. All travel plans approved by the Director of Military Outreach
- Complete exhibition kits for visits or events, and gather the materials needed.
- Increase enrollment rates by starting with leads and following up with prospects through various forms of correspondence, visits, and routine conversations.
- Expected to visit and support campuses as directed by leadership to increase visibility of the university and lead generation in those areas.
- Promotes, maintains, and enhances workplace culture within the Military Outreach department and the university.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Military Education Benefits - Possess knowledge of Military education benefits, Veteran’s education benefits, and a clear understanding of rules and regulations for base access and appropriate areas for military outreach representatives to visit Military installations.
- Bachelor's degree required; and one to two years related experience and/or training.
- Prior military experience is required for this position.
- Active Listening - Utilize effective telephonic skills to gain a full understanding of what others are saying, taking time to understand the points made, and ask questions as appropriate.
- Interpersonal Skills - Communicate and interact with leads, applicants, students, and inactive students to effectively build solid relationships to generate enrollments, networks, and referrals.
- Time Management - Manage time effectively while on the road to maximize travel time and ensure all efforts align with the department's goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Use of the Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
- Goal-oriented and highly ethical. Must understand the Do's and Don'ts of recruiting in a military environment
- Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
- Ability to listen to customers (e.g., staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
- Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.

- Office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, faxes, and copiers.
- Software uses include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, and internal database software.
- Reliable internet is required for this position.
