REGISTERED NURSE (Ambulatory Care - Cardiovascular Surgical Decentralized Float)

Provide nursing care in the specialty of FLOAT NURSING across the Cardiovascular Service line.

Provide safe, effective and specialized nursing care in a variety of Ambulatory Care Surgical clinic settings and programs both on-site and off-site. The programs are Vascular Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Structural Heart, and any additional surgical services implemented in the CV service line.

Responsibilities include participation in providing detailed patient and family education related to cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, disease process, prevention, treatments, surgical procedures, medications and health maintenance. Involvement in telephone management of patient and family calls including detailed assessment and triage of emergent/urgent situations as needed. Expertly document all phases of nursing care in both electronic and written format. Includes functional supervision of assistive personnel and other responsibilities as requested.

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ of recent (within the last five (5) years) experience working with the cardiac surgery, vascular surgery or cardiology patient populations.

NOTE: In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

  • At least two (2) years of recent (within the last five (5) years) ambulatory care experience. This ambulatory care experience must include telephone triage.
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • One (1) year float nursing experience.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with the Cardiac Surgery patient population.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with the Vascular Surgery patient population.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with the Cardiology patient population.
  • Previous experience using clinical protocols to make decisions for adult patients.
  • Clinical leadership experience such as charge nurse, preceptor, or clinic instructor.
  • Experience with MiChart, EPIC, Aspect, Word and Excel.
  • Desire to be on unit committees to improve patient outcomes.
  • Previous participation in research and/or professional nursing organization memberships.
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification

  • Hourly range for Registered Nurses $41.78-$64.81/ hour
  • Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
  • Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour
  • Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour
  • Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour
  • Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
  • Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift/ Days/ Hours: 5 days a week, Variable days, 8 hour shifts

Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

Location:

Cardiovascular Service Line Program locations including but not limited to the following:

Brighton, Northville, Cardiovascular Center and any future Cardiovascular site. Sites could change in future as service is expanded to different locations. Availability to float in all Cardiovascular areas.
