The Smidt Heart Institute is home to a distinguished team of experts who are setting the bar for cardiovascular care in the United States.

The Institute unites 16 centers and programs to diagnose and treat the full spectrum of heart and vascular conditions for all patients, from infants to those with advanced disease. Compassionate care is integrated with an agile research enterprise, giving patients access to pioneering treatments.

Qualifications

Education:

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science, Nursing) required

License/Certifications:

  • Current, unrestricted California RN license required
  • Nursing Certification required. Specialized certification in pediatrics or cardiology preferred.
  • ACLS or ALS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required. Additional PALS certification preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of Cardiac nursing experience required
  • Experience caring for pediatric and congenital heart disease patients in an ambulatory, inpatient, or procedural setting preferred.
  • Charge Nurse experience preferred
  • Must be a Clinical Nurse III for at least 1 year to be promoted within the clinical ladder
