REGISTERED NURSE (Von Voigtlander Womens Hospital)
The staff of the Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital Labor and Delivery and High Risk combined units are committed to the care of obstetrical triage, antepartum, intrapartum, peri-operative, postpartum and peri-anesthesia women, their fetuses, and their newborns, in a setting of general and moderate nursing care and an environment that supports and empowers families. Common diagnoses include labor; vaginal or assisted singleton/higher-order multiple birth; procedural pre- and post-anesthesia; obstetric, fetal, and gynecological surgical procedures; newborn transition; fetal complications; fetal demise; electronic fetal/uterine activity monitoring; pain, comfort, and coping management; identification of and intervention with labor, and complex obstetric, medical, and surgical complications impacting the childbearing woman and her fetus(s).
Perinatal Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Nurses work in collaboration with, and provide direction and delegation with, clerical staff, patient care technicians, and surgical technologists. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of Perinatal Nurses include (but are not limited to) the VVWH Nursing Standards of Care, AORN Standards, ASPAN Standards, AWHONN Standards; upholding the Mission, Vision, and Values of Michigan Medicine; supporting all policies, guidelines, procedures and processes; and participating in professional leadership opportunities on the unit (i.e. participation in unit committees, charge nurse, new employee orientation precepting, teaching classes and inservices, etc.).
Required Qualifications:
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Three years current moderate or ICU adult inpatient RN experience
- Ability to work up to 40 hours/week on Day shift (7am-3:30pm) or A-shift (7am-7:30pm) during orientation
- Successfully complete Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) credentialing within the first three (3) months
- Ability to promote the VVWH values to empower each other to interrupt or disrupt disrespect; practice communication that is beneficial, kind and true; inspire and be inspired by our colleagues worth, significance and integrity; cultivate respect for ourselves and others routinely, publicly and privately

Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree highly desired
- One year adult Med/Surg, stepdown or ICU experience
- Certification in obstetrics specialty or electronic fetal monitoring.
- Certification in peri-operative nursing (e.g. CNOR) or peri-anesthesia nursing (e.g. CPAN)
- ACLS or OB ACLS certification.
- Successful completion of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring course
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Hours- 36 hours /week
Shift- 12-hours PM-shifts (7pm-730am) Monday through Friday, rotating weekends and taking on-call per collective bargaining agreement
Location: Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital – 9 East & 9 West
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census based on collective bargaining agreement
