Employees of UNCA are provided with a comprehensive benefits package as well as other resources, policies and programs to ensure a happy and healthy work/life balance. Benefit eligible employees have access to dental, vision and health insurance plans – eligibility begins on the first of the month following date of hire. Retirement plan contributions begin on the eligibility date following election and include employer contributions for either a defined contribution or a defined benefit plan. Optional disability plans are also available. Eligible employees have access to tuition waivers for up to three courses per academic year; employees may enroll at any of the constituent UNC System campuses. Also offered are group exercise classes, and free access to the campus recreation center for full time employees, vaccine shots are also offered on campus, pretax flexible spending accounts, 12 paid holidays and 24 hours of paid community service leave each year. Leave earning employees (staff and 12-month faculty) who work at least half of the working days of their first month of employment will begin accruing vacation and sick leave immediately. Position Summary: The employee in this position provides professional nursing care and treatment to students in the UNC Asheville Health and Counseling Center. The employee will conduct needs assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and provide education to students.
FLSA: Exempt
Required Education/Experience/Skills: License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with 1-3 years’ experience providing nursing care to individuals in the 16-30 year old range.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Ability to provide nursing care which includes assessment and triage, carrying out provider orders, administering injections, performing venipuncture, collecting and processing of specimens, and completing documentation in the electronic medical record.Ability to provide nursing care both face-to-face and virtually to students. Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team by demonstrating skills related to time management, critical thinking, and communication.BLS certification.
