Your opportunity:
The Registration and Information Assistant provides registration and information services to patients of the Faculty of Dentistry. This position enters, records, and manages confidential patient health records, financial information, and insurance details on a daily basis. You will be the first point of contact for new patients by collecting all required health information, forms and insurance documents and answering patient enquiries about available services and about health insurance. This position provides a high level of customer service to our patients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required
- Updating and maintaining patient records
- Handling sensitive and/or confidential information
- Scheduling appointments
- Following rules and procedural processes related to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
- Handling fees and/or fines on a regular basis
Essential Qualifications:
College Diploma (2 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum two years of relevant experience working with patients in a dental or medical office environment, handling patient information.Strong communication and customer service skills.Good computers skills and keyboarding skills.Excellent organizational skills, and good analytical and problem-solving skills.Accuracy and attention to detail.Courtesy, tact, perceptiveness and good judgment.Demonstrated initiative, reliability and ability to work well under pressure.Ability to work independently and as part of the team.Familiarity with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

Financial/accounting experience is preferred
