Relocation Adviser

Relocation Adviser

The University of Cambridge is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in the UK, employing more than 14,000 staff in a wide range of academic, research and professional services roles. In an increasingly competitive resourcing landscape, we are committed to enhancing the University's reputation as a prominent employer of choice, maintaining our ability to attract, develop and retain the highest calibre of talent from across the world.

As part of the Talent Attraction theme of the University's People Strategy (2024 - 2027), we are taking forward a new Relocation Service to provide expert and dedicated relocation advice and support for new employees of the University. As a result, we now have a unique opportunity for an experienced relocation professional to join the team as a Relocation Adviser to help establish and lead this service.

The Role:

As Relocation Adviser, you will utilise your extensive relocation knowledge to set up the Relocation service by developing and implementing guidance and associated procedures, ensuring they meet the University's needs and are in line with external best practice. You will also oversee the development and maintenance of relocation information for new staff, including national and local information and services (e.g. National Insurance, tax, healthcare, housing, amenities etc.). This role will provide an opportunity for you to work directly with hiring managers and departmental administrators at the University to support their recruitment through the provision of relocation advice. We will look to you to:

  • Determine new strategies to enhance our relocation provision, to help attract candidates to work with the University.
  • Develop an engaging, informative, and interactive platform that supplies accessible relocation information to prospective employees and internal colleagues.
  • Manage the Relocation Coordinator, who will manage the day-to-day operation of the relocation service.
  • Provide briefings to colleagues across the University on our relocation provision, as well as on effective onboarding of new staff.

About You:

You will join us with:

  • Current and comprehensive knowledge of issues relating to relocation, both domestically and internationally, and their impact on talent attraction efforts.
  • In-depth experience of coordinating and communicating a corporate relocation service, both internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, peers, senior management and staff.
  • The ability to convey information in a variety of formats, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organisation, time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This exciting role would suit candidates who have experience of working as part of an organisational relocation service or would like to broaden their experience of supporting the development of relocation processes and guidance at an organisational level. If you feel you are the ideal candidate for the role, we want to hear from you.

Elements of this role are suitable for hybrid working, where staff can split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working. Additional information can be found in the Further Information document, which is available via the link below.
