Research Analyst (Biodiversity Conservation)

Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Analyst (Biodiversity Conservation) for the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources within the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Designs, develops, conducts, and monitors statistical procedures and methodologies to facilitate the accomplishment of biodiversity conservation research objectives.
  • Develops and writes new proposals to secure contracts for grant-funded research related to biodiversity conservation and the use of environmental DNA within natural resource management decision-making.
  • Compiles and summarizes research results in written and visual formats for use within reports and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Keeps track of research grant and contract requirements and deadlines and ensure timely and accurate compliance.
  • Develops novel statistical models to analyze biodiversity data, while managing and maintaining biodiversity and environmental DNA databases.
  • Works independently with broadly defined work objectives and limited review of overall results from lab Principal Investigator.
  • Engages in professional work that requires specialized to general knowledge of biodiversity conservation, and a solid understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of machine learning and Bayesian statistics.

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in ecology, evolution, natural resource management or related discipline and five years of relevant professional research experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biodiversity conservation and environmental DNA principles and practices.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to work in a variety of outdoor environments.

Salary: $82,166 - $90,382
