Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant to join the team of Assistant Professor Yassine Cherrak within the Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Appointments will be made on a 1-Year contract basis, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

• Providing administrative support for the research program and projects, including the end-to-end management of procurement and payments.
• Managing financial processes related to grant claims, such as tracking expenditures and processing payments.
• Daily lab management tasks such as inventory of supplies and samples, preparing culture media, autoclaving materials, and coordinating the procurement of laboratory consumables and equipment to meet research needs.
• conduct wet lab experiments (PCR, competition assays, cloning)
• Assist with in vivo (using murine models) experiments (infection, health monitoring, samples collection and analysis)
• Prepare research findings for publications, reports, and presentations;
• Undertake the day-to-day running of the project and collaborate with team members in supporting lab operation;
• Assisting with other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

• A recognized Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in a research or academic organization.
• Prior experience in research administration, grant management, agreement review, or database management will be an added advantage.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, coupled with an investigative mindset and keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications and solid IT literacy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
