Essential Job Duties:
This specific position will be housed within the Hayes Structural Pest Lab, part of the SPERT program. The selected candidate will assist with developing, supporting, and conducting ongoing research projects focused on structural pest arthropods. These projects are of critical importance to the pest management industry, and the scope of duties include, but are not limited to:
- Arthropod rearing and colony maintenance
- Lab supervision and upkeep
- Project design and development
- Chemical dilutions and applications (topical & residual)
- Research troubleshooting
- Manuscript preparation and editing
Other Work/Responsibilities:
Other responsibilities may arise, including but not limited to:
- Fieldwork
- Stakeholder & public engagement
- Preparation & delivery of material at relevant stakeholder meetings
Minimum Experience/Education:
M.S. in relevant field (Entomology, Biology)
Required Qualifications:
- Fieldwork experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years professional research experience
- Experience maintaining & rearing arthropod colonies
- Experience developing and conducting insecticide efficacy trials
- Experience working with the structural pest management and chemical manufacturing industry
Required License or Certification:
Valid NC Drivers License
