About the Boston Children's Hospital Viral Core
The Boston Children's Hospital Viral Core is a non-profit organization within the Department of Neurology at Boston Children's Hospital. We produce AAV and lentiviral vectors for academic investigators and provide technological resources to support the development and application of viral tools in research.
As a Research Assistant at the Viral Core, you will join a team of dedicated scientists assisting with the production of AAV and lentiviral vectors for investigators. You will also have the invaluable opportunity to participate in neuroscience research projects, working closely with the laboratory of Professor Zhigang He, the Core Director.
A two-year commitment for this position is preferred. This position is looking for an immediate start date.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mammalian cell culture and transfections on a regular basis.
- Apply basic molecular biology techniques, including transformation, maxi-prep, PCR, and gel electrophoresis, for viral plasmid production.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
- Communicate efficiently and thoroughly with team members.
- Attend weekly laboratory journal clubs and progress meetings.
- Explore additional research opportunities within Professor Zhigang He's laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in STEM is required.
Experience:
Prior experience with mammalian cell culture and basic molecular biology is desirable but not required. Training for all skills and techniques will be provided.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
