Research Assistant in Digital Humanities

As a Research Assistant with the Melbourne Data Analytics Platform, you'll contribute to the Community Data Lab Enhanced Analytics project. You will work on interdisciplinary projects, advancing digital humanities by working with a team to develop tools to search historical textual corpora, using computational methods. This role offers you the chance to collaborate with researchers, enhance your skills, and contribute to the understanding of cultural phenomena.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Data Collection and Management: Gather, clean, and organise large datasets from humanities sources, ensuring data integrity.
- Digital Tools and Methods: Assist in applying digital tools for textual corpora analysis and support computational research methods.
- Project Management: Coordinate project timelines, liaise with stakeholders, and maintain project resources and documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work in interdisciplinary teams, develop user guides, and present findings to diverse audiences.
You may be a great fit if:
You will have an Honours or Masters degree in humanities or social sciences, with a keen interest in digital technologies and interdisciplinary research, possessing strong organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
You may also:
- Be proficient in research data management and analysis tools.
- Have knowledge of programming languages like Python or a willingness to learn coding skills.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be enthusiastic about interdisciplinary research and learning new methodologies.
