Contract: Full-time (35 hrs/week), fixed-term until 31 March 2028

About the School

  • State-of-the-art facilities for high-throughput screening, imaging, proteomics, viral & non-viral vector production, and integrative physiology.
  • Part of King’s Health Partners and hosts the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence.

Role Overview

The postdoc will work on cardiac inflammation after myocardial infarction (MI), focusing on:

  • Signalling pathways in cardiac-resident leucocytes post-MI.
  • Using in vivo models, in vitro experiments, and multi-platform ‘omics’ approaches.
  • Identifying novel targets to prevent progression to heart failure.
  • Managing work packages and contributing to a multi-disciplinary team.

Essential Criteria

  • Expertise with primary cells and standard molecular biology techniques: DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, cell culture, fractionation, flow cytometry, ELISA, functional assays.
  • Understanding of study design, statistical analysis, and scientific integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, IT skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage research and administrative tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organized lab records.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with bulk/single-cell RNA sequencing workflows.
  • Hold a Home Office personal licence.
  • Familiarity with genomics and bioinformatics workflows.
