Research Assistant in Neuroscience

Position Description

The Department of Neuroscience at the Perelman School of Medicine seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track.

The successful candidate will have expertise in neurophysiology with proficiency in implementing in vivo recording techniques, including:

• Electrophysiology
• Optogenetics
• Behavioral neurophysiology at both cellular and systems levels

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Research Responsibilities:

• Develop an independent research program focused on adult neurogenesis and circuit-level mechanisms of brain function in the dentate gyrus
• Conduct experiments and analyses related to neuronal activity in the dentate gyrus of the mouse hippocampus in vivo
• Attract and maintain extramural funding for research

Teaching Responsibilities:

• Training and mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral investigators

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Neuroscience or related discipline
• Distinguished record of scholarship and publications in neurophysiology
• Experience with in vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics, and behavioral neurophysiology
