Position Description
The Department of Neuroscience at the Perelman School of Medicine seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track.
The successful candidate will have expertise in neurophysiology with proficiency in implementing in vivo recording techniques, including:
- Electrophysiology
- Optogenetics
- Behavioral neurophysiology at both cellular and systems levels
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Research Responsibilities:
- Develop an independent research program focused on adult neurogenesis and circuit-level mechanisms of brain function in the dentate gyrus
- Conduct experiments and analyses related to neuronal activity in the dentate gyrus of the mouse hippocampus in vivo
- Attract and maintain extramural funding for research
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Training and mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral investigators
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Neuroscience or related discipline
- Distinguished record of scholarship and publications in neurophysiology
- Experience with in vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics, and behavioral neurophysiology
