Research Assistant in Propulsion
The Role
In this varied and dynamic role, you will be a key part of our experimental research group. You will take a lead role in the design, planning, and organisation of propulsion testing, ensuring all activities are safe and rigorously documented.
Your daily activities will include:
- Leading the design and commissioning of new test equipment.
- Conducting risk assessments and planning safe experimental test activities.
- Organising, managing, and preparing research data for analysis.
- Contributing to high-impact reports, conference abstracts, and journal articles.
- Supporting undergraduate extra-curricular and dissertation projects that utilise the group’s test facilities.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a proactive team player who thrives in a multidisciplinary research environment. You should possess a masters or good honours degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline, alongside practical experience in rocketry and propulsion testing.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong technical knowledge of propulsion systems.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly with data acquisition software.
- Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to meet specified deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with experience in preparing research outputs or reports.
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with PhD students and external collaborators.
