THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MATERIALS PHYSICS, located in Măgurele, Str. Atomiștilor no. 405A, Ilfov County, is organizing a competition to fill two positions of research assistant (PhD student), for a fixed-term period, within the project „Portable platform for the in vitro analysis of a large number of antigens, antibodies and genetic material sequences”.
1. Available positions
Two positions of research assistant (PhD student) in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Medical Engineering / Bioengineering or related fields relevant to the project topic.
The successful candidate(s) will contribute to the implementation of the research and development activities of the project, aiming at the development and validation of a portable platform for the in vitro detection of biological markers, through optical methods, FRET, microfluidics, microfabrication and surface biofunctionalization.
2. Main responsibilities
The candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- carries out scientific research in the field of physics/chemistry/biology and in the topics of interest for the project, in accordance with their specialization, contributing to the development, characterization, functionalization and integration of active surfaces, microfluidic components and biosensor architectures for the multiplex detection of biomarkers of biomedical interest;
- carries out the tasks assigned by the project director/partner representative in accordance with their professional competence and ensures their timely and proper completion, for the smooth running of the project activities;
- is responsible for the quality of the work carried out within the project in which they participate;
- contributes to the drafting of phase reports, scientific articles and technical documentation;
- participates in the dissemination and promotion of the results of the activity;
- observes intellectual property rights and the confidentiality agreed with collaborators;
- is involved in the organizational activities necessary for the smooth running of the activities;
- observes good conduct and the ethics of research, development and innovation activity.
3. Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- bachelor's and/or master's degree (or completion of master's studies by the date of employment) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Medical Engineering / Bioengineering or related fields relevant to the project topic;
- the status of PhD student or fulfilment of the conditions for enrolment in doctoral studies in the field of the project;
- knowledge in the field of functional materials and/or physico-chemical characterization techniques, with applications in detection, sensing or biomedical technologies;
- the ability to analyze and interpret experimental data, including the use of dedicated software for data processing, graphical representation, scientific writing and technical documentation;
- skills in documenting, drafting and valorizing scientific results through articles, reports and scientific communications;
- clear, effective and coherent communication skills, team spirit and a high sense of responsibility;
- knowledge of English at a level appropriate to research activity;
- understanding and application of the principles of ethics and good conduct in scientific research.
4. Duration of employment
The positions are available for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of extension in accordance with the provisions of the financing contract and the applicable legislation.
5. Minimum starting salary:
5500 RON
