Research Assistant Professor, General Internal Medicine (Cardiovascular Epidemiology)

Position Description:

The Cardiovascular Health Research Unit (chru.uw.edu), part of University of Washington’s Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position. The CHRU is a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary research environment with about 30 faculty, staff, and trainees. The candidate will work closely with Dr. James Floyd, Professor of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology, to lead research programs in cardiovascular disease epidemiology, genomics/omics, and Asian American health. Successful candidates will be expected to generate external funding support. The candidate will have extensive opportunities to work with and train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

This position will be at the Research Assistant Professor level (non-tenure eligible). Research Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date would be March 1, 2026.

Salary

The base salary range for this position will be: $9,000 - $12,500 per month ($108,000 - $150,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications:

Requirements include a Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field. Eligible candidates must have a record of publications in the areas of cardiovascular disease epidemiology, genomics/omics, and Asian American health. The applicant must have successfully competed for extramural funding in the past.
