The Department of Forest, Rangeland and Fire Sciences (FRFS) seeks an academic year, non-tenure track Assistant Research Professor to help lead, coordinate and support the Student of Fire Initiative at the University of Idaho. The goal of the Student of Fire initiative is to advance the effectiveness of wildland fire training and education. The individual will work to expand partnerships and training offerings to enhance access and quality for students within and outside the University of Idaho. The research faculty will lead research efforts to explore the methods for improving instruction related to wildland fire in the private and professional communities. Research will include needs assessments, course design and delivery using adult learning principles, and evaluations of outcomes. Responsibilities also include developing grant proposals and peer-reviewed publications, managing personnel, and forming partnerships with various organizations. This position will include outreach efforts to share information and build skills related to wildland fire management and leadership, including teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in consultation with the Head of the Department. The position is contingent on the continuation of funding.
