Requirements

The Department seeks to appoint a Research Assistant Professor who can either teach a specialized course in Set Theory or effectively cover existing departmental courses. Candidates should have a PhD in Philosophy (or related disciplines) by the start of the appointment and a record of publications in Philosophy, preferably in leading journals. Candidates should have obtained a PhD degree or equivalent for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment.

The appointee is expected to conduct focused research, publish scholarly outputs, and apply for competitive grants. Teaching experience at undergraduate levels is an advantage.

Research

The Research Assistant Professor will carry out research and submit papers to top journals, and organize seminars, reading groups, or workshops.

Teaching

The teaching load will be three courses per year. English will be the language of instruction. Potential courses include Introduction to Set Theory and Applications, Critical Thinking, Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, and others.

Service

The appointee will perform administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Appointment

Commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, and incoming passage and baggage allowance. Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of one year, renewable subject to funding. The starting date is no later than January 2026.
