About This Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and talented Research Assistant to join our world-class research team at the Frazer Institute. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and progress translational science in a globally leading tumour microenvironment lymphoma laboratory. Help us create real change!
In this role, you will provide operational oversight within the translational lymphoma research laboratory embedded within investigator-initiated clinical trials. This position is primarily laboratory-based and is responsible for day-to-day laboratory management, technical oversight, project coordination and compliance oversight relating to laboratory activities with a pathway to owning and progressing personal projects within the laboratory.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead day-to-day laboratory operations, including workflows, resource allocation, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
- Manage biospecimen processing, storage, tracking, quality control, and ensure compliance with approved ethics, governance, and MTAs.
- Help to run flow cytometry and assist PhD students in organoid based projects for lymphoma.
- Establish, optimise, and document laboratory assays (e.g., ELISPOT, flow cytometry), maintain SOPs, and oversee laboratory documentation.
- Supervise, train, and support research staff and coordinate laboratory project timelines, milestones, and cross-project dependencies.
- Facilitate translational integration by coordinating trial sample intake, liaising with clinical teams, and supporting reporting, manuscripts, and grant documentation.
About You
Our ideal Research Assistant will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in biomedical or health sciences.
- Demonstrated experience in laboratory management and technical assay development.
- Experience with biospecimen handling and laboratory compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of research ethics and governance processes in an academic or health setting.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and support research staff and students.
- Postgraduate qualifications in biomedical or health sciences and experience working within translational or trial-embedded research programs would be highly regarded but not essential.
Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks including verification of the right to work in Australia (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for these appointments) and mandatory immunisations. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
