Research Assistant/Research Associate

Job Description

The Signature Research Programme in Health Services and Systems Research (HSSR) at Duke-NUS is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding and delivery of health services. The programme’s focus is on public health and clinical service innovation in an increasingly complex and connected world.

The selected candidate will join a research project and assist the Principal Investigator. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as primary study coordinator for assigned research project(s)
  • Screen and recruit participants, obtain informed consent, answer participant inquiries, and act as a liaison between participants and study-related parties
  • Administer study assessments
  • Monitor enrollment goals and initiates strategies to promote enrollment and participant compliance
  • Oversee compliance to study protocol
  • Maintain participant files and study database, completes data entry and verification
  • Manage quality control, completion and submission of study related documentation
  • Prepare reports for IRB, funding organization, and other agencies
  • Assist to develop study budgets; monitors budget expenses and billing; arranges for participant reimbursement
  • Recognize, track and report adverse events and protocol deviations
  • Attend weekly lab meetings with Principal Investigator and team members
  • Support Principal Investigator with all study-related tasks

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in psychology, social sciences, or other related fields
  • Minimum two years of research experience
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills, attention to details, and demonstrated human relations and communication skills required to work with a wide network of people
  • Able to function independently with knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis preferred
  • Responsible for meeting recruitment targets and must be willing to operate independently in hospital and/or community settings
  • Able to speak English and Mandarin for operational requirements of the position. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Possess knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and IRB regulations
  • Comfortable interviewing participants about sensitive issues such as anxiety and depression
  • Due to the nature of the job, successful candidate needs to be willing and able to commit work during non-office hours (e.g. peak operating hours in clinical setting)
