Research Assistant

Are you interested in health research, mental health, and global health inequalities? We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our team and contribute to an international research project focused on improving care for women living with breast cancer and depression in low-resource settings.

You will work with Professor Parveen Ali and the wider research team on a project developing an Integrated Psychosocial Care Plan for Comorbid Depression in Breast Cancer Patients. Breast cancer survivors frequently experience depression and anxiety, yet culturally appropriate psychosocial support is often limited in low- and middle-income countries. This project aims to develop and evaluate a model of care to improve mental health outcomes and quality of life for breast cancer survivors.

Working closely with colleagues in the UK and Pakistan, you will support the delivery of the research programme through activities such as literature reviews, research coordination, data management, and supporting quantitative and qualitative data collection. This role will give you the opportunity to develop your skills in health research, mixed methods research, and global health collaboration.

We are looking for someone with a degree in psychology, public health, health sciences, social sciences, nursing or a related discipline, with an interest in mental health, cancer survivorship, or psychosocial health research. You should have strong organisational and communication skills and experience of supporting research activities such as data collection, data management or literature reviews. An interest in quantitative data analysis and mixed methods research would be particularly valuable.

You will join the School of Allied Health Professions, Pharmacy, Nursing & Midwfery, a large and diverse academic department with a strong international research profile. Our researchers work across disciplines to address major health challenges including mental health, gender-based violence, cancer survivorship, and health inequalities. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience in applied health research while contributing to work with real-world impact.

In this varied and dynamic role you will support the coordination and delivery of research activities, assist with the organisation of meetings and project activities, contribute to data management and analysis, and support the preparation of research reports, conference presentations and publications.
