Research Assistant (Wilkinson Lab) (Fixed Term)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Research Assistant to join the group of Dr Adam Wilkinson. The Wilkinson Group has recently relocated from the University of Oxford to the University of Cambridge's Department of Haematology and Cambridge Stem Cell Institute where the role holder will be based. Our group's research focusses on expanding and manipulating haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) ex vivo. We have pioneered highly influential new methods to expand transplantable HSCs long-term ex vivo (Wilkinson et al, Nature, 2019; Igarashi et al, Blood Advances, 2023; Sakurai et al, Nature, 2023; Bozhilov et al., bioRxiv 2024) which are now in use worldwide. Our group has significant funding from the Wellcome Trust and Krishnan-Ang Foundation.

The Research Assistant post will contribute to ongoing research projects within the team. Your position will include responsibilities for day-to-day research and laboratory organisation, and processing of human blood samples.

You will have a degree in a biological science (B.Sc or equivalent) and strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills. Experience with stem cell culture and molecular approaches (PCR, cloning, transcriptomics) is required. A strong interest in haematology, cell and gene therapies, and stem cell biology is desirable.

Informal enquiries to Adam Wilkinson at acw63@cam.ac.uk.

Fixed-term: This post is initially available until 31 December 2029.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
