Offer Description
This job advertisement is issued for the associate position of research assistant, in the scientific area of social sciences – field of economics, 1 employee. The contract will be signed for fixed-term employment lasting five years, with the purpose of obtaining a PhD.
Requirements:
- candidates must meet the requirements for appointment to the associate position of research assistant as prescribed by the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette 119/2022, hereinafter: the Act) and EIZ’s Ordinance on Additional Criteria for Appointment to Scientific, Associate, and Expert Positions of November 28, 2023,
- completed university graduate studies in the area of social sciences – field of economics.
II. Appointment to the associate position of research assistant is conducted in accordance with Articles 39 and 40 of the Act and with EIZ’s Ordinance on Hiring Procedure from December 2023.
The candidates must enclose:
- their application,
- curriculum vitae,
- evidence of requested academic degree (candidates who have earned their academic degree outside Croatia must enclose a document issued by the relevant authority of the Republic of Croatia regarding the evaluation of the foreign higher education qualification, or proof that an application for such a document has been submitted),
- transcript of grades during their studies,
- a recommendation letter from a professor from a higher education institution or contact details of one or more professors from a higher education institution willing to give a recommendation,
- certificate of no ongoing criminal proceedings (issued no more than three months ago).
Candidates are invited to also enclose other documents that they consider relevant for their application (recognitions or awards for excellence in their studies and research work, participation in scientific research, presentations they have personally held at scientific conferences or professional meetings, published scientific papers, etc.).
III. Candidates who are, according to special regulations, entitled to an advantage when applying for employment, are invited to invoke their right in the application and submit evidence with the application for the purpose of exercising their right of priority in employment and job placement, in accordance with the regulation granting them that right.

IV. The selected candidate must present the originals or certified copies of the evidence required before the employment contract is signed. If the evidence is in a foreign language, the selected candidate must also present a certified translation into Croatian.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE JOB ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE ASSOCIATE POSITION OF -RESEARCH ASSISTANT-
Job description of the associate position:
The research assistant trains to obtain a PhD, conducts scientific research in accordance with the Institute’s scientific research program, publishes results of scientific and development research, participates in scientific training, conducts other tasks related to the Institute’s scientific activity, fulfils obligations according to the Institute’s general act on employment into associate positions, and conducts other tasks assigned by the mentor, head of the scientific department, and director of the Institute.
Information on the salary:
- the basic salary is calculated by multiplying the base amount with the job complexity coefficient,
- the base amount for salary calculation in public services from August 1, 2026, to November 30, 2026, is a gross amount of EUR 1,025.00, in accordance with the Decision on the Base Amount for Salary Calculation in Public Services in 2026 (Official Gazette 11/2026-86),
- in accordance with the Regulation on Job Titles, Categorization Requirements, and Coefficients for Salary Calculation in Public Services (Official Gazette 22/2024), for the position of research assistant, the job complexity coefficient is 2.01, which amounts to a gross salary of EUR 2,060.25, with transportation costs to and from work paid in addition to this amount.
Testing:
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to write a test in the areas of: scientific field of economics, quantitative skills, creativity and motivation, English language, and academic writing.
