About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with the CoNSIDERED2 project, which aims to initiate a process to capture the educational needs of young people (18-30) with early-onset Type 2 Diabetes (EOT2D) to co-design an adaptive, immersive learning intervention.

Working closely with the project team, you will engage with public and patient involvement in research (PPIE) activities and stakeholder events to identify the health information and educational needs of young people with EOT2D. An important part of these activities is your knowledge of technology and immersive environments, such as virtual and augmented reality, and your ability to demonstrate the current resources already developed by the team to PPIE and stakeholder audiences. You will also be expected to undertake desktop research on current approaches to diabetes education.

Main duties

  • Responsibility for planning and carrying out PPIE activities with community groups that represent young people with EOT2D and capturing their ideas to inform a draft curriculum and prototype ideas
  • Help to organise an on-site stakeholder event and capture further ideas to inform a draft curriculum and prototype ideas
  • Assist with the preparation of papers for publication and make presentations at meetings and/or conferences
  • Conduct literature searches and reviews
  • Attend conferences/workshops and present papers as required
  • Observe all School and University Health & Safety rules and regulations
  • Any other duties given by the Head of the Research Group commensurate with the level and responsibility of this post.

You will have:

Essential:

  • PhD or near completion of a doctoral degree in a relevant subject.
  • Recent experience in applied digital health research
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and flexibility.
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement

Desirable:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with research instrument design and ethical approval processes.
